Day 1 Report
The day began with a brief from the Captain, Dennis Flaharty. The team would be broken down into squads. Each coach (Jim O’Connell, Bob Meade, Rick Hunt, Gary Rasmussen, and Gene Rucks) would have a squad each firing order. Due to a scheduling conflict, we had no pit pullers for todays shoot. The sixth squad would have to pull targets, rotating out after each detail.
We NEED target pullers for the other venues. Please beat the bushes for us. We need one puller per coach.
The day started with very light and readable winds. A number of shooters scored 200′s at the 1000 yard line. If today was any indication, we will have a tough time culling shooters from this pool. There are a lot of talented shooters in our country.
The coaches all had an opportunity to coach individually, with and without time pressure, as well as working within a group. As the conditions deteriorated today, the coaches all had a challenging time keeping the shooters in the middle, especially in lieu of my “dirty tricks” (more on that later).
